Rules for Visits and Reimbursement

General Conditions

The RISIS project aims to serve the scientific community in providing a large-scale infrastructure on utilizing data and data analysis platforms relevant for research and innovation dynamics and policies. It includes facilities covering five topics (see Specific information on individual facilities is provided under

The objective is to provide support to researchers wishing to use one or more of the facilities for their research work. A pre-condition for registering, and, by this, be able to enter the RISIS infrastructure is to agree to the RISIS Code of Conduct (Cod). The RISIS CoD defines the basic working principles.

Financial and legal conditions

The researcher entering RISIS will have the opportunity to stay for up to a week at the research institutions managing the facilities, receive advice and training on the use of the data, access on-site to the data (including the possibility of combining different datasets), develop cooperation on the analysis of data. You will be provided with a suitable space and infrastructure for working on the data.

RISIS will cover the following costs:

  • Travel to the hosting site and back (airplane economy fare or train).
  • Accommodation and stay for 3 to 5 days based on per diem.

Hosting site and specific conditions for each facility are provided in the separate calls for each facility.

Reimbursement of costs is provided for international visits among EU and associated countries; intra-national visits or visits from other countries cannot be reimbursed.

Application procedure

The researcher entering RISIS has to clearly define the research path that is followed in the registration, including a description of the research purpose and the intended datasets and/or platforms of the RISIS infrastructure to be used.  The application dossier should include:

  • The application form completed, including information on the applicant, hosting site, preferred dates.
  • A 2-3 pages description of the research project envisaged by using data and of its output (publication, etc.).
  • A short CV (2 pages) and publication list of the applicant.

All documents should be submitted as pdf files.

Procedure. Applications will be processed by the RISIS management office with copy to the specific contact point for each facility. You are strongly encouraged to contact the facility manager in advance to agree on the work and calendar of the visit.
